In Case You Missed It: Last night Montgomery’s WSFA-12 News highlighted U.S. Representative Martha Roby’s (R-Ala.) work in Alabama’s Second Congressional District. Roby takes advantage of breaks in the congressional calendar to travel throughout her district to meet with constituents, with the month of August traditionally being the longest district work period.
Raycom reporter Michael Doudna rode along for a day last month to give viewers a brief glimpse into a day in the life of a congressman, and he said:
“Occasionally when Congress is not in session, members are considered to be on ‘recess,’ but very rarely does that mean there is a vacation. For Congresswoman Martha Roby, these breaks mean a chance to head home and meet with constituents and are usually filled with schedule-packed days. Raycom followed around the congresswoman for a day, showing her going to a high school, to a future business development, to an airfield – all part of the day in in the life of a member of congress.”
